Christmas and Chocolate
An eternal love.
Santa Claus figures, Christmas biscuits, Advent calendars: Christmas wouldn't be the same without chocolate. The first Father Christmases were made of solid chocolate almost 200 years ago. Twenty years later, hollow molds in a paper wrapping depicting Santa Claus first lay under the Christmas tree.
In the 19th century, the first Advent calendar (one small gift every day from Dec 1st to the 24th) with chocolates inside came out, giving every child the chance to enjoy the run-up to Christmas Day with sweet little surprises. Today, plenty of other chocolate creations are on sale in the pre-Christmas season as well as the classic Santa Claus figures and Advent calendars.
Manufacturers' products are mainly refined with spices, fruits and Christmas cookies – with marzipan, orange, cinnamon, vanilla, gingerbread, vanilla crescents and much more.
